Presentation

15 minutes from Beaune, Château de Santenay is a majestic residence from the 9th-12th-16th centuries with a remarkable roof of glazed tiles.
The Château is located on the Route des Grands Crus, where two exceptional vineyards meet: Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise.
The estate has been Terra Vitis-certified since 2004, thanks to environmentally-friendly viticultural practices.

It was once one of the many properties of the Duke of Burgundy Philippe le Hardi (1342-1404), son of the King of France, Jean le Bon. In 1395, Philippe le Hardi signed the founding document of the mono-grape variety in Burgundy, and Pinot Noir became the only variety for our precious red wines.
Today, Château de Santenay is one of the most important estates in Burgundy with its 90 hectares of vines and 25 appellations produced in Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from Mercurey to Clos Vougeot, via Santenay, Saint Aubin, Pommard, Beaune, Aloxe Corton...
Through its historical heritage and the wines it produces, the Château offers a unique place for tours, weddings, seminars etc.

Come and discover during a guided tour the epic tale of the château, the highlights of the harvest, its modern winery with its wine presses, its vats, its vaulted cellars from the 9th century with their ageing barrels, and its old dungeons that today welcome Burgundy lovers from all over the world.
You’ll end your visit with a tasting of a selection of 4 of the Château’s wines including 1er cru.
