Château du Clos Vougeot – Discovery tour
Presentation
Built in the 12th century by the monks of Cîteaux Abbey, in the middle of the vineyards, out in the heart of the Route des Grands Crus, Château du Clos de Vougeot today welcomes lovers of history, architecture and wine.
Although Château du Clos de Vougeot no longer produces wine, it remains the symbol of nearly a thousand years of Burgundy's history.
An exceptional historical monument, Château du Clos de Vougeot is the Head of the Order of the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Tastevin.
The visit can be done independently using a leaflet available in French, English and German, touch screens along the route or as a guided tour by reservation, depending on availability (at 10.30am, 2.30pm and 4.30pm, allow a supplement of 2 euros per person), including discovering the Château’s old wine facilities, the film "Never in vain, always in wine" on the Brotherhood of the Knights of the Tastevin and, frequently, a temporary exhibition.
Final tour departs 1 hour before closing for self-guided visits.
Please note that visits may be shortened or limited when required for the smooth running of a reception held within the Château.
